🚗 Driveway Materials & Finishes

Block paving is the most popular driveway choice — it's strong, looks smart, and individual blocks can be replaced if damaged. We lay block paving on a compacted sub-base with sharp sand bedding and kiln-dried sand joints, following manufacturer specifications for vehicle-grade installations.

Resin bound gravel is growing in popularity for London driveways. It's fully permeable (so it may not require planning permission), looks contemporary, and comes in a range of natural aggregate colours. We lay it on a prepared tarmac or concrete base for maximum durability.

🚶 Garden Pathways & Stepping Stones

Garden pathways connect different areas of your outdoor space and keep feet dry in wet weather. We install paths in natural stone, porcelain, block paving, gravel, and reclaimed materials — depending on the style of your garden and the level of use the path will get.

Curved paths work well in informal gardens, while straight paths with clean edges suit more contemporary spaces. We set all paths on a proper foundation with edging restraints to prevent lateral movement, and we ensure surface levels match adjoining lawn or planting areas.

💷 How much does a new driveway cost in London?

A block paved driveway for one car (around 15 square metres) typically costs between £2,500 and £4,500. Larger driveways for two or more cars range from £4,500 to £10,000. Resin bound gravel costs are similar, with the base preparation being the main expense.

Natural stone driveways (such as granite setts) sit at the premium end but offer exceptional longevity and kerb appeal. Our quotes include excavation, sub-base, edging, materials, laying, and waste removal. No hidden extras.

Driveway & Pathway Installation Across London

We install driveways and pathways for homeowners across London, from compact front garden conversions to full driveway and pathway projects.

📋 Do I need planning permission for a driveway?

If your new driveway uses a permeable surface (such as resin bound gravel or permeable block paving) or drains into a garden or soakaway, planning permission is usually not required. If it uses an impermeable surface over 5 square metres that drains onto the highway, you will need planning permission.

This regulation was introduced to manage surface water runoff in urban areas. We can advise on the best approach for your property and handle the drainage requirements so the installation is compliant. Most of our driveway installations use permeable solutions to avoid the planning permission requirement.

🏗️ Drainage & Groundwork

Proper drainage is essential for any driveway. Water pooling on the surface, running towards your house, or draining onto the public highway are all problems that stem from poor groundwork. We set accurate levels and falls, install channel drains where needed, and ensure water goes where it should.

We also handle dropped kerb applications through your local council. A dropped kerb is required for any new vehicle crossover and must be installed by an approved contractor. We coordinate this process and can include it in the overall project.
