🪵 Fencing Options

Close board fencing is the most popular choice for London gardens — it's strong, offers full privacy, and handles wind far better than panel fencing. Each board is individually nailed to horizontal rails, meaning damaged sections can be repaired without replacing the whole fence.

We also install featheredge, hit-and-miss (semi-private), trellis top panels, and composite fencing. Composite is becoming increasingly popular for its low maintenance — no painting, no rotting, and a consistent appearance year after year.

🚪 Gate Design & Installation

We build and install both pedestrian and driveway gates in timber and metal. Side gates are typically framed in treated softwood or hardwood with a matching design to your fencing. We hang every gate on heavy-duty hinges with proper latch hardware.

For driveway gates, we work with automated and manual options. Whether you need a simple five-bar gate or a bespoke design, we ensure the posts are set deep enough to support the weight and the gate swings or slides without catching.

💷 How much does fencing cost per metre?

Close board fencing with concrete posts typically costs between £90 and £130 per metre, depending on height and your choice of gravel boards. Standard 6ft close board with concrete posts and gravel boards is the most common specification we install.

Panel fencing is cheaper at around £60–£80 per metre but won't last as long, especially in exposed positions. We always recommend close board for longevity. Our quotes include removal and disposal of your old fencing as standard.

Fencing & Gate Installation Across London

We install fencing and gates for homeowners across London, from single panel replacements to full boundary fence installations.

📋 Do I need planning permission for garden fencing?

In most cases, no. Fencing up to 2 metres high at the rear and 1 metre adjacent to a highway is permitted development. However, if your property is listed, in a conservation area, or if the fence would border a public footpath, you may need to check with your local authority.

If you share a boundary with a neighbour, it's always worth discussing the work with them beforehand — even when you're legally entitled to replace the fence. We can advise on boundary responsibilities and the Party Wall Act if needed.

🔒 Security & Privacy

Good fencing does more than mark a boundary. Close board fencing at the right height gives you privacy from neighbours and deters intruders. We can add trellis top sections for extra height without making the garden feel enclosed, or fit anti-climb features where security is a concern.

All our timber fencing uses pressure-treated softwood as standard, which resists rot and insect damage for 15–20 years. We set posts in concrete at the correct depth — typically 600mm below ground — so your fence stays upright through strong winds.
